So you still can’t decide whether you prefer 6 max or ring games. Well ask yourself the following questions and add up how many times you answered YES….
• Do you enjoy maximizing you long term win rate at the expense of variance ? By this we mean although you will win more money in the long term your swings will be much larger… all poker sites.

• Do you like playing a lot of pots? Do you prefer creating a loose aggressive image at the table to get paid on your strong hands?

• Are you a grinder? Your hourly at the 6 max tables will be higher because the volume of hands that you will see. Do you like to multi-table? Card game

• Do you like incorporating player reads your decisions? Because the game is short handed you will always have the opportunity to use reads to your advantage.
There is no one game that is superior to the other. It all comes down to personal taste and how one approaches the game.
Some players are grinders, they like sitting back and being quiet until they get a real hand. They like the fact that 9 max games are more passive.

Playing 6 max games - Part 1

6 max money games are a very interesting variant of no-limit poker. Because the field is reduced to 6 players or less, hand ranges can be much wider all pokersites rooms.
Some plays that were -EV (expected value) at a full ring table can often be profitable 6 handed.
For example, some players don’t like raising small pocket pairs from early position (like Daut) full ring. But when you’re playing 6 Max you can profitably raise any PP from any position.
So what are the main differences between 6 max and full ring from a strategic standpoint?
• As we said previously, you should open any PP from any position when playing 6 max cash games.

• Hand values go up. This means your top pair medium kicker can be a very strong hand in some cases.

• More pots are played heads-up and you see a lot more hands per hour. The aggressive and fast nature of 6 max games favors the stronger player texas holdem

• You can profitably squeeze from the blinds because late position openers have wider ranges. Aggression is the key to success in this game in most games.
